Here's the complete guide for my Uncanny X-Men series. If you don't want the series to be spoiled, don't read it, but if you do read it (and let me tell you, it's a lot) please tell me what you think and what I should change. Thanks.
*********************************************************
Uncanny X-Men Story 1- “One Year Next”
Cast: Phoenix, Nightcrawler, Outlaw, Avalanche, Diamond, Psyche (all X-Men)
Callisto, Thunderbird, Sabre, Abyss, Aurora, Electric Eve, Ever (all X-West)
Maelstrom
Xorn II, Nocturne, Juggernaut (former X-Men)
Issue 1- “One Year’s Time”
Rachel and the Uncanny team are introduced in the series. Apparently, a fallout happened between the X-Men and former members of the team throughout the year. Nightcrawler has made some form of promise to Rachel, who has now called herself Phoenix. Shola arrives at the institute and brings with him a skull with the words “Watch yourselves, X-Men” chiseled on the back of it.
Issue 2- “Waiting”
As Rachel and the team look into the skull case, Nightcrawler reminisces of when their time together was actually precious to her. He had promised that some day, he would take her away from the cares of the world and of the X-Men, and that they would raise their family together. She loved the idea at first, but now, Kurt thinks that she couldn’t care less for it. As the team believes that they may be dealing with a big threat here, they head for the West Coast to investigate further, where they run into their former teammates.
Issue 3- “X-Men West” part 1
Callisto and her team of renegade X-Men members stop the Uncanny teams search for information. As Rachel and Callisto but heads, the rest of the teams try and quell it but end up fighting themselves. As the X-Men fight, they are attacked by Sentinels, which have been apparently reactivated by the country.
Issue 4- “X-Men West” part 2
Putting their differences aside, the teams of X-Men fight together. After Rachel telekinetically reconfigures one Sentinel’s hard drive, she is shot down, which she tells Callisto to lead the teams. She does so with happiness, and the X-Men win. While the two teams don’t apologize to one another, they agree that their foe from the year has returned. Who he is, has yet to be revealed, but both teams decide to work with one another until they figure some things out.
Issue 5- “Psychic Maelstrom”
As the X-Men try to find out more information, Maelstrom arrives and demands what is his: Diamond. During the year, Maelstrom dappled into the art of alchemy and became obsessed with it. When the X-Men were in Israel to speak with Sabra about a Sentinel attack that had decimated a village of mutants exiled from the Holy Land, they were attacked by the mysterious villain. When Diamond, being the only one who escaped, fled to a cave, she met Maelstrom. Maelstrom had gone a little mad being away from humanity for so long, so when Diamond asked for his help, he agreed but not without a piece of Lil’s skin. She agreed and he helped free her teammates. Present day, she denies him her body and says that she never agreed to that. In reality, she didn’t, but Shola had gone into her mind and agreed, causing a wedge to be placed between Lil and Shola. Maelstrom, angered by this double-crossing, threatens to slice the throat of Wind Dancer if he doesn’t get what he wants, and causing him to be pulverized by Onyxx for touching her. Maelstrom is now within the X-Men’s walls in the infirmary, slowly being healed physically and mentally.
Issue 6- “Despair”
Avalanche and Diamond are assigned to go to China to visit an old friend: Xorn II. As they speak with him, there is animosity between Xorn and Avalanche, due to when Avalanche returned from Xorn’s head. As Diamond tries to quell the little uproar, Xorn summons his monk brethren and tells them to dispose of the X-Men. Before a fight ensues, the two leave. Not getting to talk to Xorn about the Chinese attempts at the Sentinels, they try and investigate as much as possible, running into Juggernaut and Nocturne. As they reminisce about when they returned, it turns out that Avalanche and everyone had wound up in between time. When the enemies found the Watcher, Exodus ordered the Brotherhood to attack him and force him to send them back in time. Avalanche, feeling that was wrong, he helped Nocturne and Juggernaut to stop them, gaining the trust of the Watcher, who sent them back. Avalanche says that he then saw things in a different light for some reason, implying that the Watcher distorted his true views on things. The two are invited back to the mansion, which Nocturne accepts to see her father, but Cain decides to keep traveling on his own.
Uncanny X-Men Story 2- “Sentenial”
Cast: Phoenix, Nightcrawler, Outlaw, Avalanche, Diamond, Psyche, ‘Rover’ (all X-Men)
Callisto, Thunderbird, Sabre, Abyss, Aurora, Electric Eve, Ever (all X-West)
Dazzler
Wind Dancer, Bling, Match, Wolf Club, Onyxx, Kid Rhino (all training squad)
Bastion, Mr. Sinister
Issue 7- “Five”
Kid Rhino has always felt distant from everybody. When he first came to the mansion, he thought he’d have a fresh start with a new training squad that was supposed to be like family and leaders that were to keep nothing from him. In a matter of weeks, that changes when he finds the X-Men talking about what to do with one of their most dangerous threats: Bastion, whom they have locked up within their warehouse. They all swear not to speak of it to the training squad, which makes Callisto uneasy. In the present day, one year later, they still have yet to do anything with Bastion, but Rachel decides that destroying his head is the answer. Kid Rhino, who kept the secret, finally tells his comrades and Onyxx immediately says that they should destroy to prove that they are capable of handling such information. When they go to do so, they accidentally reboot his head, and he reassemble.
Issue 8- “Four”
Bastion awakens at the site of the young mutants. Immediately, he chastises them for their stupid mistake of awakening an adversary, and incinerates Wolf Club for their mistake. The kids do their best to stop the villain but he is too much and they fail. By the time the X-Men arrive, they are too late, as Bastion has left, going back to restart operation “Zero Tolerance”.
Issue 9- “Three”
As the X-Men try and console their protégés for their loss, they then go out and seek the aid of X-West. Callisto, knowing the dangers of Bastion, agrees and the two teams reform to the Uncanny X-Men during the one-year gap. As they try and place pieces as to where Bastion is, they find out he’s working out of a former laboratory of Mr. Sinister of all people, and finds him grafting mechanical parts onto human beings to form Prime Sentinels.
Issue 10- “Two”
As the X-Men try and stop Bastion, they are sent out to an unknown place (in the fashion of Cassandra Nova and Genosha), which turns out to be Hollywood, California (Bastion wants to make sure people know he’s there). As Sentinels begin obliterating anything that has a mutant in there, the Sentinels take control of the city in mere minutes, with little opposition from anything. Rachel is horrified when she sees the Sentinels killing anything, it reminding her of her timeline. She has the teams set out for California, to stop the Sentinels and Bastion once and for all.
Issue 11- “One”
As they arrive in California, California is like a desolate wasteland. Sentinels begin to attack them while they are in the Blackbird, but Rachel summons her pet Sentinel ‘Rover’ to come in and attack. Rover and Rachel destroy them all and the X-Men split up. As Rachel leads a team consisting of herself, Thunderbird, Outlaw, Abyss, Diamond, and Electric Eve downtown, Callisto takes Sabre, Nightcrawler, Avalanche, Aurora, Psyche, and Ever uptown. Rachel and her team in Downtown find Dazzler. Trying her best to fend off an attack by Sentinels against a mutant father and daughter. The last thing they see is Dazzler getting hit with a blast by the Sentinels before Rachel gets fiery.
Issue 12- “Zero”
As Dazzler recovers from the attack (her having used her powers to form a light force field around herself), Sabre takes out the Sentinel for her. Rachel checks up on the father and daughter, who died after the blast. Dazzler is distraught by the fact that in order for her to survive, they had to die (the blast went around her bubble and destroyed them) and swears to destroy Bastion herself. Rachel commands Rover to search his systems for Bastion’s schematics to see where he is. He finds him and the team locates to Philadelphia, in the Independence building. They find him, but see that someone already dismembered him and took his sentience. As the X-Men return to their normal lives, Dazzler joins them, and they try to cope with the fact that they could have saved many lives, but chose to procrastinate and it ended horribly for them. Meanwhile, Mr. Sinister is not happy with Bastion overtaking one of his former workshops and, with Bastion’s sentience in hand, plans to do something with this, Gambit having something to do with these new plans.
